Tom Ambrose Bowen

1916-1982

Thomas Ambrose Bowen in the 1950s and 1960s. Born in Australia in 1916, Bowen began his career as a manual therapist in the town of Geelong. Despite having no formal medical training, he developed an intuitive understanding of the human body and its capacity for healing. Bowen's approach to healing was both innovative and simple. He observed that by making subtle and precise moves over

specific points on the body, he could stimulate the body's own healing mechanisms. Bowen developed a series of gentle, rolling movements that targeted muscles, tendons, and fascia. His technique aimed to prompt the body to reset and restore balance, addressing a wide range of physical and emotional issues.
